Photo Talk, Giving life to an ordinary SMS
It is announced on 14th that Omnitel, specialized in mobile broadcasting and content, opened a service called ¡®Photo Talk¡¯ which brings a photograph into life by utilizing face recognition (FDS : Face Detecting System) and TTS(Text to Speech) technology on Nate-on(Messenger) and T-world(website for SK Telecom subscribers).
¡®Photo Talk¡¯ automatically converts an ordinary SMS into an animated talking clip and sends to receiver.
Various contents like stars(Kim, Byung-Man – a Korean comedian), animals, characters, etc. are available and user can also upload a full-face photo to make it move and talk. SKT subscribers can easily use this service via Nate-on or T-world(http://www.tworld.co.kr) simply by selecting contents in the ¡®Photo Talk¡¯ tab.
Give-out Events will soon be held in Nate-on, T-world and Twitter every month for users who send funniest Photo Talk messages.
Mr. Kim, Yong-Hoon, the director of mobile & contents business department, said that this service has been in preparation from 2009 co-working with Olaworks who has the best face recognition technology in the country. He also said that Photo Talk will soon be launched in China via its subsidiary company Omnitel China, who is on the listing procedure in Hongkong Stock Exchange Market.
By end of June, Omnitel is planning to open an Android based Photo Talk app. to target Smartphone users.
